Individual Therapy

Virtual • 60-Minute Sessions • Early morning, daytime, evening, and Saturday appointments available.

Individual therapy is about more than just addressing symptoms. We'll help you better understand yourself by exploring the roots of the thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we’ll work toward real change that doesn’t end when the session does.

There are many different kinds of therapy. We’ll use what is most helpful based on who you are, what you’ve experienced, and what brings you to therapy. Our work together draws from therapeutic approaches we’ve found to be most effective.

Couples Therapy

Virtual • 60-Minute Sessions • Early morning, daytime, evening, and Saturday appointments available.

You and your partner may talk through an issue, find some resolution, and walk away thinking, “Okay, we’re good now.” But then another issue comes along, and before long, you’re right back where you started. The topic may change, but somehow the relationship stays frustratingly stuck in the same place.

Couples therapy helps you look beyond the individual problems and understand the patterns underneath them—like when one of you pushes harder to be heard while the other shuts down, or one becomes critical while the other gets defensive. We’ll explore how these and other patterns shaped by childhood experiences and past wounds continue to influence the way you respond to each other today, and what each of you can do differently for your relationship to actually change.

At Meridian, we primarily use Relational Life Therapy (RLT) when working with couples. RLT is active, direct, and built around a challenging idea: You have far more power to change your relationship when you stop focusing exclusively on your partner and begin looking honestly at yourself.

Individual Therapy Approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

If you tend to overthink, jump to worst-case scenarios, or struggle with beliefs like “I’m not good enough,” CBT helps you recognize and challenge unhelpful patterns of thinking and develop healthier ways of responding to them. In our sessions, you’ll have the time you need to slow down, feel what you’re feeling, and work through difficult emotions without feeling rushed to move past them.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Maybe you know you want something to change—your habits, a relationship, your work, or the way you’re living—but another part of you isn't quite ready to take the next step. MI helps you work through what’s holding you back and evoke your own motivation to make that change a reality.

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

This thought may be familiar to you: “I understand that what I’ve been through is part of why I feel the way I do, but knowing that hasn’t made the pain go away or become any easier.” AEDP helps you safely re-experience these moments, this time with someone alongside you, so those wounds can begin to heal rather than continuing to shape how you feel today.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Sometimes one part of you can become so loud that it feels like all of you—whether it’s the part that worries, gets angry, pulls away, or becomes overwhelmed. Other times, different parts of you can feel completely at odds—one part of you may want to move forward while another wants to hold back, or one part may want to open up while another wants to protect you from getting hurt. IFS helps you recognize that multiple parts of you can exist at the same time, and that each is valid without any one part having to define all of who you are.

Emotionally Focused & Attachment-Based Therapy

Our first relationships in life often influence how we experience trust, closeness, and connection with others. Emotionally focused and attachment-based therapy provides a framework for exploring how those foundational relationships may still be playing a role in your relationships today.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Have you ever wondered, “Why do I keep reacting this way?” “Why did this experience affect me so much?” or “Why do I keep falling into the same patterns?” Psychodynamic therapy helps you explore how what you’ve been through may have shaped the way you think, feel, and respond today, so you can recognize these patterns as they happen and respond differently instead of automatically repeating them.

Couples Therapy Focus Areas

Recognizing Unhealthy Cycles

Learn to recognize the patterns you repeatedly fall into—whether that means criticizing, becoming defensive, shutting down, avoiding difficult conversations, or losing yourself to keep the peace—and understand what keeps those patterns going.

Communicating & Navigating Conflict

Learn to say what you actually mean, ask for what you need, listen without immediately becoming defensive, and stay engaged during difficult conversations without escalating or withdrawing.

Accountability, Repair & Rebuilding Trust

We all hurt the person we love at times. We’ll work on taking responsibility when you’ve caused hurt, standing up for yourself when you’ve been hurt, and understanding those moments together so you can rebuild trust, become partners and friends again, and feel safe sharing your emotions with each other.

Relationships at a Breaking Point

If you’re considering separation or divorce, we’ll be fully invested in helping you find a way forward together. That means honestly confronting what isn’t working, what each of you is willing to change, and what it will take to rebuild your relationship.
